Paris: 600 Paddlers in Paris

With 600 paddlers standing on the same start line, the Paris Crossingn is the single biggest race in the world. Competitors are treated to an amazing and very rare experience: The once-a-year opportunity to paddle on the River Sine past iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral.Despite the freezing temps (most paddlers wore full suits with beanies and gloves) it was a beautiful sunny Sunday in Paris, with blue skies and the stunning backdrop making this a truly incredible experience for everyone on the water.

Bruno Hasulyo has just won the 2016 Paris Crossing race in the heart of the French capital, with the reigning 11 City Tour champion breaking a strong field early and paddling clear to cement his reputation as a flat water powerhouse. Arthur Arutkin and Martin Vitry had a photo finish for second, with the next 8 guys crossing within a minute after the main pack stuck together almost all the way home.

In the women’s race, Spaniard Susak Molinero ended the season on a winning note by claiming the title after a sprint to the line with Frenchwoman Amandine Chazot. The pre-race favourite Olivia Piana was a late withdrawal.
