The Baztan Valley / Basque Contry. It is a land impregnated by the Basque culture and of a beauty based on its meadows, forests, rivers and villages with huge hamlets.
The Baztan Valley in Navarre is an area of extreme beauty and mediaeval Basque landscapes which, due to geographical, social and political factors, still keeps many of its secrets to itself. The Baztán Valley, an appealing region in the north of Navarra where charming villages meet together to create a rural environment of beauty and enchanting landscapes. This valley known as the Baztán Valley collects a total of 15 charming villages surrounded by beech forests, peaks, ravines and megalithic monuments from the Neolithic on top of the mountains. It is a place of hidden beauty in between the mountains. Green valleys are making out of this place a dreamy landscape of rural villages and pure nature.
El Valle de Baztan presenta un paisaje excepcional donde suaves montañas perfilan su horizonte. En Baztan se encuentra el nacimiento del río Bidasoa, en el corazón de la denominada Navarra húmeda. Senderos, regatas y montañas serpentean entre las típicas bordas y caseríos y palacios del paisaje. Los baztaneses han mantenido vivas tanto las antiguas tradiciones como la convivencia con la naturaleza. Durante miles de años la que fue lengua de Navarra permanece viva. En Baztan se habla el euskera.
Quince pueblos o Lugares se reparten en un único municipio, el más extenso de Navarra. No existen deslindes, hitos ni mojones .Todos sus habitantes disfrutan del aprovechamiento común en las hierbas, pastos, aguas y cortes de leña.
Baztanek paisaia ikusgarria du, mendi lerro leunek ibarraren zeruertza itxuraturik. Bidasoa errekaren sorburua Baztanen dago, Nafarroa hezearen bihotz-bihotzean. Bidexkak, mendiak eta errekak sigi-saga dabiltza haranean borda, jauregi eta baserrien artean. Baztandarrak naturarekin bat bizi eta tradizio nahiz ohitura zaharrei bizirik iraunarazi diete. Milaka urtez Nafarroako hizkuntza izan dena ere bizi-bizirik dago. Baztanen euskaraz mintzatzen da.Hamabortz herri Nafarroako udalerririk zabalenean elkarturik, mugarririk gabe. Baztango auzotasun eskubideei eutsiz, herritar guztiek dute herri-lurretako belaiak, ura eta egurra erabitzeko eskubidea.
